I'm back
We've had a rough few weeks but I think we're on the up-and-up. It started with getting sick. It seems like that's how most of our rough times start. Madeleine's cold turned into ear and sinus infections. Then she started a new bedtime habit of throwing up within 30 seconds of being laid down. Matt and I tried everything we could to get her to go to sleep without crying (and thus throwing up) but it usually meant she would not be put in her crib awake and it could take 3 or more hours of battling in order for her to get so exhausted she'd finally sleep. We all were sleeping less and less but it's beginning to turn back to normal with better sleeping and happy awake times. Through it all Madeleine has transitioned from two naps to one and she's also popped out her first molar. Whew.
I haven't had time to do much of my own projects, needless to say. But I do have ideas for a quilt for our family, not to be given away. :) Matt perked up when he asked who it was for and I said "us!" It's ocean themed, kindof like McKay and Jax's quilts. I'm excited to work on it. Hopefully I get to start it soon.
Madeleine and I have been busy with a lot of daytime excursions lately in order to wear her out and help her fall asleep easier. I don't know how popular this is in other areas but around here there are several city splash pads. It's chlorinated water run under ground that arches up out of a cement pad. Some just shoot strait up and some arch and they are timed so they go up and down. The kids love it. There's a cool one that immitates a river down in Springville. And Provo just built one this year too in Pioneer park. And conveniently there are two down in the shops at the Riverwoods near our house but they rank third on our list of favorites. We've also swam at the pool several times the last couple of weeks. We went to see the quilt exhibit at the Springville art museum. We've gone for lots of walks, visited the neighboorhood horses and donkeys, jumped on the couch pillows, built forts, and she even got to walk around in the grocery store one morning instead of riding in the cart. Days Market has little hand baskets that have wheels and a extended handle so Maddie pushed it around the store with me. I think every person who saw us stopped to tell me either how cute she is or what a good helper she is. Both are true; and it's also true that it tires her out pretty good.
With all the walking I've been assisting Madeleine in doing she's started walking on her own. She's still a bit wobbly and prefers to hold my hand but she can do it and she does do it by herself some too now. Pictures will be forthcoming!
