Oh Christmas Tree

Matt's posted a few good posts about Madeleine in the last month or two.  If you don't know what his blog is, it's biggywiggy.blogspot.com.  Also, he has a technical blog he occasionally puts things on.  Recently he wrote a satirical post also involving Madeleine.  That one is iffycan.blogspot.com.

For those that didn't know--we went to Florida for a week at the beginning of December.  Despite being sick and getting colds again while we were there we had a great time.  Madeleine could say all of her cousins' names this trip and was in heaven following them around.  They are great at playing together and get along really well so it was fun to see Maddie included in the play.  One night the kids were together and wanted to put on a circus show so they all went upstairs to practice.  James got half way up and then turned around and said, "Come on Maddie!  Come with us!"  Melt my heart.

We got to play at the beach several times while we were there.  Unfortunately all my pictures are on Matt's camera which we still haven't found the cord for downloading them.  I think I may go out and buy a new cord... at any rate I promise to post pictures soon.

We got back last week and rested for a couple of days since we, especially M.J. was very congested.  Saturday we went out and got our Christmas tree!

Is Madeleine trying to lick the trees, you ask?  Well, yes, she is.  We have a little Christmas village set up in our house.  It was a gift from Gramma Meyers.  M.J. insists on holding the little figurines and playing with the pieces.  Fortunately, it's behind the couch and hard to reach so I choose which pieces we play with.  One morning we were playing with the little dog and the fence and a tree and we pretended the dog was getting a drink from the tree.  Odd, I know, but it was make-believe play with a one-year-old and I didn't think it would leave an impression on her.  Wrong!  She remembered and tried to "drink" from every Christmas tree on the lot.  :)

She was also very interested in helping me sweep all the needles after we brought the tree inside.
