Happy President's Day
I was thinking over the weekend that blogging is a really good way for my family to know what we're up to and see us, even if it's only in pictures. So I'm rededicating my efforts to blog regularly again. Hopefully it helps at least somewhat in that regard.
Matt had the day off of work yesterday and so we went snowshoeing up around Big Springs, in Provo Canyon. It was a pretty warm day for February (upper 40's). The weather has actually been warm for almost a week and I feel like spring is trying to say it's almost time. The water is starting to run and the streams are getting full. There was still plenty of snow to hike in though.
Turned out that our trail was already really packed down. Lucy only stepped into deep snow twice (seems like they don't make snowshoes for 18 month olds). There were a lot of other people out along the trail in regular shoes. Matt and I took turns carrying her or holding her hand. She also loved all of the dogs that were out along the trail. She is getting more brave around animals and was happy to pet a few of the friendly furry friends along the way.
Maddie thought it was pretty cool that she got to wear snowshoes and use a hiking stick. We forgot her hat so she was our little babushka with my Egypt scarf from Jamie Lee wrapper around her head. She was plenty warm though and ended up taking it off for the walk back to the car.
As a side note, Matt's been assembling the fence over the winter. When it's a warm day (at least mid-30's he's gone outside and put up one, two or three more fence panels. The only ones left are the ones he has to cut, plus the gate. We love it and are so excited to have a fenced in yard this year.
It's hard to believe it's been 5 years since he proposed. It's been a great 5 years!
Lucy loved looking at the snow bugs (little, decimeter-long black bugs that walk on the snow). We sat down together for a while and watched them crawl around. She kept leaning down close to them and saying "hi!" in her i'm-talking-to-something-smaller-than-me, high pitched voice. And then she would look back up at me with a big smile and tell me the bugs were so cute. She is such a happy, fun baby to have around. It is unanimous around our house that Lucy is a really cute baby and we are so lucky she's in our family.

Great pictures, Christy!!!! And so glad to see you blogging again! Can't believe all that snow in your yard! Your fence looks great! Can't believe you saying it's warming up when it's in the 40's!!! Ha ha ha!!! Is that my Florida girl talking??? Love you and miss all of you!!! Give those cute little girls a kiss from Mimi!!!
